Hot Sauce Blog

Okay - so we're 5 months and a week away from the wedding - and holy crap there's still a ton of $hit to do. But one thing that Laura has conceded to (beyond inviting all the chileheads) is having a hot sauce themed wedding favor. But I've seen the usual hot sauce wedding favors - I was wondering if anyone out there had any unusual ideas/creative suggestions that go beyond the normal hot sauce wedding favor.

Any ideas and or suggestions are welcome, thanks!

Have you tried potato salad from hell? It's got some kick to it but the average person can eat it without discomfort. I can post the recipe if you are interested.
Yes, potato salad is delicious, but I'm not sure if it would be appropriate as a wedding favor... Might get a little warm sitting on the tables! Besides the personalized hot sauces we've all seen, that's a tough one. Maybe little packets of different pepper seeds for people to plant?
Sorry I misunderstood what you wanted, I thought you were asking for suggestions for the meal.
No problem - would still love to see the recipe!
How about a packet of hot and spicy seasoning and some form of this kind of recipe thing... It could be changed around and "spiced up" to fit the two of you.

(And NO I didn't write it so don't blame me for the sappiness)

Recipe for a happy marriage

*****************************

1 cup consideration
2 cups praise
1 small pinch of in laws
1 teaspoon contentment
1 gallon of patience
2 tablespoons flattery
1 cup encouragement
a dash of faith and trust

Blend well, sweeten with generous portions of love.
Keep warm with a steady flame of passion.

Serves 2.
We put together a little gift box for a couple last year, Nick. Two tiny jars (45 ml) of hot sauce, one her favourite, the other, his. and between the two was a little taffeta bag of M&Ms with their initials on them.

And curious... since when is hot sauce a "normal" wedding favour?
How about each guest bring a couple of bottles of hot sauce (or send them) to make an archway through which you walk? You know, the usual trellis thing that is adorned with flowers. They could then be donated to the local food pantry.
Instead of the chicken dance you can have the Creator and have a Deathmatch. You would still get some sort of chicken dance out of it. :D

Perhaps a Chocolate fountain, but with spicy mayan chocolate. Or a fountain that is out of hot sauce.
Hi Nick, I made 2 oz sampler bottles with custom labels for my wedding in 07. Ended up making around 200 bottles - there were about 20 or so left - they were a huge hit. Are you thinking sauce or something else spicy? A little gift set with a small bottle, some hot nuts, and some hot candies would be pretty cool.
How about a Cajohn hearts a fire for each seat or adam's for the girls and eves for the guys. or Blairs 3 am's as placecards with their table numbers on them with the date and signed by you guys. How about a bottle of Sexabi at each seat. How about a special limited edition signed and numbered with just the number of guests at the reception.
did you make your own sauce or did you buy it in bulk? i want to do this for my wedding favors but im afraid it would go bad if it didnt stay in the fridge...did you have to preserve your sauce? just let me know how you did this..my wedding is in 3 months. Thanks!!!
I sew aprons with "hot sauce bottles on and flames". Just an idea for you. I have a pic if you want to see it.
